Garden Tiger Moth

A large, brightly colored moth, seen towards the end of Summer. It’s a night flying moth of sand dunes, woodlands, meadows, parks and gardens. The caterpillars are large, black & covered in hairs. Commonly called “Wooly Bears”. They feed on stinging nettles and many garden plants.
In many cultures they are associated with transformation and the afterlife. They are said to be messengers of those that have passed on and a symbol that they’ll never be forgotten.
