Our Lady of Carmel
I painted this from a picture of an icon of Mary, it’s called “La Bruna”
And is the oldest image of Mary and has been adopted by the Carmelites. It’s title from the dark complexion of Our Lady in the painting. The gold represents holiness, the presence of God. The blue proclaims her divine motherhood. The red color symbolizing love, the strong love of the Mother towards her son, Jesus.
The prayer on the back has never been known to fail.
She is 24 x 18 x .5 inches, oil, cold wax and 22K gold leaf on cradled birch wood, the edges are a continuance of the painting.
I signed the back
