Monarch Butterfly
From my continuing bug series and life studies of various things that pop up in my daily activities. This butterfly kept flying in my head and then it landed on a plant and literally posed for me for a long time so I was able to take several pictures I could paint from., it made me notice it and I painted it. I love insects the pretty or interesting ones anyway. 8 x 12 x .75 inches, oil and cold wax, the edges are painted.
